a stroll through Lijiang : Old Town of Lijiang, in the remarkable Yunnan-province, in the Southwest of China is famous for its Naxi-culture. The Naxi-minority descends from Tibetan nomads. They have a matriarchal family tradition and an over 1000 years old script. This script consists of pictograms, and is kept alive. There is also a Naxi-orchestra: old men that play traditional Chinese music on antique instruments, unique for China. Lijiang has an ingenious ancient network of waterways, that is supplied by the mountain springs. Via canals the houses in town are connected to this network. LHASA-TIBET, a day in the barkhor : the barkhor in lhasa is a circular street surrounding the 7th-century jorkhan temple, the spiritual epicenter of tibet. it is lined with shops and homes, most featuring the stone construction, trapezoidal shapes and black-outlined windows of traditional tibetan architecture. people from all over tibet walk around the barkhor in prayer: monks and nuns in maroon robes; khampa horsemen with long knives; nomads clad in sheepskin robes. here are some impressions of a day in the life of the barkhor - stay tuned, there will be more !!!

Qingcheng Mountain Days : Qingcheng Mountain (Qingchengshan) is one of the ancient cradles of Daoism. The mountain has numerous Daoist temples and sites along the paths to its peak. The area is green all year round and is known for its secluded tranquility. Most of the photographs were taken halfway up the mountain in the Tianshi Cave (Tianshi Dong) the temple and school of Zhang Daolin, a famous Daoist master who taught here and contributed greatly to spreading Daoism in China. The present Tianshi Cave buildings were built in the 18th through the 20th century, at the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1911). It is reputed as "Dong Tian Fu Di" (which means wonderful mountain and happy place), "the fairyland on earth". The tranquility of Mt. Qingcheng being just right for the quiet mentality pursued by the Daoists. Lu You, a great poet in Song Dynasty, composed a lot of works in Mt. Qingcheng. His verses: Clouds, like peaks of mountains, rising up in the north Mountains, like green waves, flowing to the east - are a true portrayal of Mt.Qingcheng
